City as Workshop

Since I arrived in New York city in 2003 my senses have been on overload. As an artist trying to absorb every nuance available New York has given me much inspiration both visually, intellectually and musically. New York City is a great big workshop - the best workshop there is. As I am interested in Environment and how it shapes our sensibilities - how the streets communicate to us and with us, New York has plenty to offer. Everyday I see something new that interests and intrigues me, most importantly my imagination is always in full affect when I wander the streets. I am interested in texture, in remnants, in memories contained in marks and in people trying communicating through graffiti and street art. The texture and color of New York city offers such a vibrancy, an intensity of history, shared, layered and multi-faceted. There is so much to draw from by using New York City as a creative, living workshop. The noise and rhythm of the street is musical and alive with and offers the individual - especially the expressive artist the room to 'be' - to flaunt their individuality to the fullest.
